Jacob Reuven has established himself as one of the leading mandolin players in Israel. He has performed with most of the leading Israeli orchestras, including the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, the Beer Sheva Sinfonietta, the Israel Camerata, and the Israel Contemporary Players, and has played under the baton of Zubin Mehta, Mstislav Rostropovich, Antonio Pappano and others.

In addition to the regular mandolin repertoire, Reuven often performs music for the violin in his mandolin, both as a soloist with orchestras and in recitals of mandolin and mandola. Jacob is an enthusiastic chamber musician and has collaborated with such ensembles as the Jerusalem Quartet and the Vivace Ensemble.

He is a member of the award winning Kerman Mandolin Quartet, with which he has also toured Europe and is a member of Barrocade – the Israel Baroque Collective, with whom he often performs as a soloist. In Barrocade’s recently released first CD he is featured as a soloist in the Vivaldi Mandolin concertos. Jacob Reuven dedicates much of his time to composing original music for the mandolin and to performing with the World Music Ensemble – Mactub.


Perception - Solo works for violin performed on mandolin
The vast repertoire of the violin can be smoothly and successfully performed on the mandolin because of its similar tuning. The result is capturing and surprising: the mandolin provides warmth, richness and a nostalgic flavor to this music. Jacob Reuven who is known for his virtuosic and precise interpretations of violin music both with orchestra and solo, presents a memorable experience in this recital dedicated to the solo violin music of Bach, Ysaÿe and Paganini.

Vivaldolino – Vivaldi's masterpieces for the mandolin
Jacob Reuven masters the mandolin repertoire of Antonio Vivaldi –passionate works expressing Vivaldi's exceptional writing of virtuoso intense music, tender delicate movements and surprising passages which have become his identifying mark.

The Hebrew Mandolin
The mandolin is a central instrument in Israeli folk music and song. Jacob Reuven has initiated a project that incorporates rearrangements of Israeli songs for the mandolin and a symphonic orchestra. The concert includes also contemporary Israeli music for mandolin and strings.

Ensemble Mactub
The belief, shared by Jacob Reuven and other musicians, that music can bridge different cultures and religions, particularly in the complicated situation in Israel, was one of the foundation stones upon which Mactub Ensemble was formed. The ensemble was founded in 2000 aimed at the performance of Classical Arabic repertoire, virtuoso masterpieces of Turkish and Egyptian origins and more. Its members are leading Jewish and Arab musicians and the concerts provide a real classical Arabic experience, thus introducing to the audience repertoire rarely performed.

Solo and Orchestra
Jacob Reuven is in demand by Israeli orchestras for the performance of varied repertoire for orchestra and mandolin as well as works for the orchestra and violin.
