Júlio Pereira is an instrumentalist since the age of seven – when he learned how to play the mandolin bandolim. He took part in the 60/70 rock movement, as a guitar player and leader of several bands, and in the Portuguese music renovation that followed the 25 April Revolution of 1974, working together with the most important singer songwriters in Portugal, not only in records but also in concerts.

He recorded some albums until 1979 and began a regular partnership work with José Afonso (the most important Portuguese singer songwriter) in European concerts and also as a co-producer of his last albums.

In 1981, he recorded Cavaquinho (an album dedicated to the traditional Portuguese music) which obtained all the national prizes and was the milestone of Julio´s Pereira carrier, defining him as multi-instrumentalist.

Throughout this period, he recorded 15 albums and contributed to 34 records as a Producer and Composer. He participated in more than 50 records as an instrumentalist and in concerts all over the world (especially in Europe), not to mention the concerts where he performed as a guest artist with some musicians.
