Graeme Carroll is an accomplished mandolin player and tune writer, having won the James Hill trophy at Durham Traditional Music festival in successive years (2006 and 2007).

His playing has a complexity which combines an affection for traditional tunes/playing with a modern melodic style.

Graeme plays in the folk duo "Brother Crow" where, together with Andrew Davison on vocals/guitar/bouzouki, they perform original songs about the people, places and historical events of the Durham Dales.

Brother Crow’s live performances have been described as intense, captivating and beautiful. The dark nature of some of their songs is counter-balanced by a strong stage presence, a natural sense of humour and fun and a deep knowledge of their subject matter.

Their debut album "One For Sorrow" has been receiving great reviews, including the "thumbs up" from fRoots magazine. Their second album is planned for mid-2008.
