Tom Napper, wizard mandolin and tenor banjo player, and he's based in Leeds.

Really nice guy too.

Hello! I play with Miles Apart.... just to set the record staight... there was no particular reason we didn't get through that we know of... the bit about not being folky enough was meant lightly - seems it's been taken a bit too seriously!

You ought to know better than to publish untruths on an open forum, people will take you at face value, we know better now, shame.

It was clearly nothing more than a light-hearted quip about a bluegrass band being turned down for a folk competition. Rule number 1 of the internet - don't believe everything that you read.

Sorry... didn't mean to upset anyone! It was merely a light-hearted joke (mainly between the band members). We didn't think anyone would take it the way you clearly have. Once again, apologies.

Hi ,
Mike Prior of Brejeiro is an accomplished mando player who can play in many styles, is a good tutor (well, he was in a festival workshop) and very approachable. He has certainly helped me along the way.

Jacques Titley
Based in Brittanny, France but grew up a bit in Wales and Devon.

Plays bluegrass but also does Gitane (gypsy) Breton, Napolitane (spelling??), Classical etc. etc.

Has put frets between the frets to get the semitones on one of his mandolins. You would be best off asking Jacques why, as it is beyond me to be honest. So that might make an interesting topic starter.

Also you could ask about the vibrant acoustic music scene that exists across the channel and how it is subtly different to what is happening in Blighty!
