The A5 here http://www.theacousticmusicco.co.uk/ind ... olins.html is my favourite. Its a good job that Brighton is so far from the Peak District otherwise I may be tempted more often.

I've played my Paul Shippey rosewood and spruce oval hole since 2001, I've never heard a better sounding mandolin until I played one of Pauls A5s in The Music Room a year or so ago, they had both an A5 and an F5, the A5 was the better sounding instrument to me.

Paul is surely one of the UKs finest bulilders.

Now that's one glossy finish! It won't half show up the finger marks and all those strings to keep in tune.

All you need now is some 5 course tab - Enjoy

Mr Shippey has excelled with this build, it's breathtaking just looking at it. I just know it's going to sound great, I'll post a vid of it as soon as I can...

Heaven!!!!

Postby Tosh Marshall » Thu Aug 12, 2010 8:07 pm

I had a fantastic day visiting Paul Shippey and collecting the 10 String today. It is stunning and the Red Calton Case immaculate. Obviously it is new and needs a good playing in but I love it and Paul has done a fantastic job on it.....
I did a tiresome video, not the most riveting playing you'll ever see but it gives a demo of the instrument out the box. Can't believe I actually have it....

It's great....

Many thanks Fliss, yeah it is a superb instrument, just needs breaking in and for me to explore the bottom end a bit and get more comfortable. But I have to say I'm chuffed to bits with it and completely satisfied with Pauls work. The look is just a bonus, the sound is terrific and that is what matters most. I'll work away on lower end and hopefully will get a bit more accuracy in my playing, especially on the 6th fret of the C string!!!!!........
