Hi there,

Can anyone recommend an instrument technician in Scotland / North of England?

Thanks,

Paul

Two spring to mind, both members here, John Kelly in Scotland and Tom Buchanan in Cleckheaton, check the makers list for contact details.

You could try contacting Rory Dowling (Taran Guitars) in Edinburgh:

Or Moon Guitars in Glasgow:

If the north west of England isn't too far south for you, I can recommend Matthew Bascetta (located in Wirral):

Hi Paul,
Noticed that Dave had put my name into this thread the other day as someome who might be able to offer you some assistance.

I am over on the Cowal Peninsula, so less accessible than Glasgow, where Jimmy Moon and also Jimmy Egypt are based, but I may be able to offer you some advice. Can you say what you are looking for in the way of technicial help and perhaps I (or any other reader of this post) can offer you some advice, maybe even guide you through the problem via this posting?

Many thanks for all your helpful replies. My question was essentially pre-emptive in that I don't require any work doing just now but as I am suffering from a severe case of mandolin acquisition syndrome, I was wondering what resources were available north (and just south) of the border. Clearly there appears to be no shortage of talented people out there. I'm indebted to those of you who took the time to reply. I have found a luthier very close to where I live - Rob Aylward of Aylward Guitars http://www.rjaylwardguitars.co.uk/ He is based in Aberlour

Best wishes

Paul
