Old English mandolin, looking for info

Postby MinstrelBoy » Mon Mar 18, 2019 3:27 pm

Hello, new member here who only recently discovered this site. I'm looking for some details about one of my mandos. It's a banjo-mandolin, so banjo body and mandolin neck. The headstock says "FHD", so presumably the maker is Francis, Hunter & Day, and also on the headstock are 'Mohawk' - presumably the model name - and 'Made in England'. I'm guessing it's maybe 1930s. The back is highly glossed wood, not sure which variety, and it's quite heavy. I don't know anything about FHD instruments or the provenance of this particular one. Anyone out there have any information they'd care to share with me? Thank you in advance if you have. I'd post a few pictures but there doesn't appear to be any way to do that.

To post photos you need to have them hosted online somewhere like flickr, postimages or photobucket etc..

When you write the post in the buttons above the area where you enter the text there's a button that says "Img" press that and paste the URL of where your image is.
