Making both custom and off-the-peg mandolins that are lightly constructed and extremely responsive, Gary Nava is a UK luthier based on the Norfolk-Cambridgeshire borders. Gary honed his skills during the 1970s at the London College of Furniture, so decades of experience will go into your instrument.

Demand for Gary's mandolins has grown in recent years from classical, folk and Celtic players like Brendan Emmett. His custom mandolins are well-known for their ornate, twin point design and are made entirely by hand.

When you commission an instrument from Gary, you work with him closely at every stage of construction, choosing the tonewoods, decoration and hardware to get the instrument of your dreams.

His open approach means you can also follow the hundreds of hours that go into every mandolin via Gary's luthier blog and YouTube channel.

Last year, Gary introduced a `Standard' Mandolin in response to these austere times. The focus of this simple teardrop mandolin is on sound and playability. Adornments are stripped back to save construction time, giving you a high quality, beautiful sounding, handmade mandolin at a much lower cost than a bespoke instrument.

You can find out more about Gary's mandolins and see many previous examples at www.navaguitars.co.uk/mandolins.html.
