Trinity Masterclass Given by Israeli Mandolinist: Alon Sariel

Image: Alon SarielTrinity College of Music were proud to host a masterclass and recital given by young Virtuoso Alon Sariel on Weds 27th Feb 08. It was a wonderful afternoon which included Alon giving a brilliant and moving performance of the Bach Chaconne and also a lively rendition of Peter Hoch's Harlekin Suite. Two Trinity students then performed two pieces each.

Travis Finch performed El Duende by Juan Carlos Munoz and Sakura by Nawata Masaji. Tom Newell (4th year violinist) made his mandolin debut in a performance of Mount Fuji (by me!) and Bach's Andante from Sonata II in A minor. Alon then worked with each student and gave interesting suggestions for improvement or a different way of interpretation. Both students played extremely well and found the whole afternoon incredibly helpful and exhilerating.

We must also thank Alon for wonderful playing, very helpful teaching and a generally very enjoyable and informative afternoon. The event was very well attended by students and interested members of the public.
