" not enough for an album " by wingin' it

CD Cover: not enough for an album by wingin it' not enough for an album ' by wingin' it. who are,

Adam Bulley, mandolin/guitar, and
Chas Mackenkzie, guitar

Like the title says, it's not enough for an album but it really deserves to be a full album, two as competent musicians as you could wish to hear.

Four self penned tracks, 1 and 4 by Adam and 2 and 3 by Chas.

Track 1 is a homage to bluegrass picking, wonderful driving mandolin and guitar backing with real depth, a treat for anyone who likes bluegrass.

Track 2 is divided into 2 parts and for me the first part is the only dissapointing bit of the CD, undoubtedly good playing but very repetative which smacks sligtly of self indulgence, a bit like techno pop where you keep wishing it would move on instead of repeating the same phrase, it never seems to resolve itself, by contrast the second part separates the 2 instruments better with some really good mandolin and guitar work [ and a good tune ]

Image: Wingin ItTrack 3 is again in 2 parts, a wonderful guitar duet, the first part sounding very traditional, mellow and sweet sounding guitars by both players, the second part speeds it up and has a contemporary jazzy feel to it, again excellent picking by both players.

Track 4 goes back to mandolin and guitar, very contemporary, slightly remeniscent of David Grisman or Tony Williamson.

Two very fine young players who should have a bright future.
